The purpose of this assignment is to assess your reflection and application of the concepts and content studied in Lessons 1–4. In Lesson 1, you studied definitions and characteristics of life-span development, methods to research life-span development, and the ethics involved in said research. In Lesson 2, you studied genetics, prenatal development, and the birthing process. In Lesson 3, you studied the physical growth and sexuality of individuals throughout the life span. In this lesson, you studied cognition and information processing throughout the life span. The Signature Assignment is a culmination of Lessons 1–4 where you will apply and reflect on the topics studied. The length is approximately 750–1000 words. Instructions: 1. Identify your career. If you are not currently working, identify your future career or professional practice. 2. Describe the individuals with whom you work and the clients your organization serves. For example, you may work in a pediatric dental clinic and the clients are toddlers, children, and adolescents. Or you may work in an assisted living facility and the clients are older adults. 3. Reflect on what you have learned in each lesson. Select one topic, concept, or idea from each lesson. 4. Identify how you could apply each concept in your current or future practice. In your reflection and explanation, explain how each of the topics is related to the whole individual. In other words, how are the disparate topics related? 5. Write in complete sentences, and spell check your work.
